Multifactor Authentication (MFA) allows you to easily improve the robustness of your account security. MFA can be setup for most services within 5 minutes and can prevent up to 99.9 precent of account breaches as documented by Microsoft here: One simple action you can take to prevent 99.9 percent of attacks on your accounts (microsoft.com)
So, why should you use MFA?

A single password is no longer a secure method to protect and secure an account. There are too many points of failure that can cause the password to be intercepted, stolen or guessed. With MFA, and the correct security controls, you will no longer be reliant on a single point of failure.
If an attacker did have your password and attempted to login, they will be unsuccessful unless they can authenticate via a token, SMS text or app approval. This dramatically improves your security.
But, I have a secure password. Why do I need it?
No password is secure. 62% of users admit to re-using the same passwords. Humans are fallible and predictable. With tools, attackers can run random password attacks or attempt to phish your password also, if you’ve signed up for an account via a 3rd party service and they’re breached, there’s a chance your password could be exposed. With MFA, an attacker knowing your password is not as compromising – that being said, you should still change your password if it has been compromised.
When should I use MFA?
If MFA is an option, you should enable it. It’s hard to stress the important of security. Typically, security by nature is not very convenient however, MFA is incredibly convenient and easy to implement and the end results are fantastic!
How do I implement MFA?
Most services these days will support MFA. It can usually be found under their account settings or security settings but if you cannot find it, you can reach out to the service support. If you would like to see what services MFA can be enabled for or would like further assistance, please pop us a call on 01794 377 388 or message us via our Contact Us support form and we will be more than happy to help or provide a demo.
